Brandon Zackey

Brandon Zackey has performed on tenors for many world class marching organizations. These include Yamato, Esperanza, Glassmen, RCC Fall Marching Band, Pulse Percussion, RCC Winter Drum line, and The Blue Devils. He has been contracted multiple times to perform as a percussionist at Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan. Brandon has also performed on episodes of The OfficeAmerican Idol, and Big Love

Upon aging out of the drum line activity, Brandon began teaching high school and professional ensembles, including the San Diego State University Winter Drum Line in 2012. He currently teaches Chaparral High School and Great Oak High School, while maintaining a studio of private students.

Recently he served as a clinician for System Blue, and has frequently performed locally in the Southern California area. Brandon can currently be seen playing drum set for the thrash metal band of his own creation called Chemical Warfare and the black metal band Sicarius.

Henry Gillard



Henry has had extensive performing experience in elite marching percussion ensembles such as RCC Indoor Percussion (2012-2016) and Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps (2012-2014).  He is an active marching percussion educator/clinician based in the SoCal area and has instructed for many scholastic ensembles including Fountain Valley HS, Granada Hills Charter HS, Aliso Niguel HS, Canyon HS, Antelope Valley HS, West Ranch HS, Yorba Linda HS, and Esperanza HS. Henry has also been the Battery Caption Manager for the Oregon Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps for the 2016, 2017 and 2018 seasons. 

In addition to his strong emphasis on percussion education, Henry also holds a strong social media presence as a performer/soloist.  Henry currently resides in Anaheim, CA.

2019 will be Henry's second season as the Dark Sky Battery Caption Head. 

Andrew Manzanares



Andrew Manzanares has participated in the Marching Arts since 2008. He competed in WGI and SCPA circuits in the Scholastic World division with Mission Viejo HS (2008-12) and began his DCI career with Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets (2011-12). In 2013, Andrew became a Blue Devil where he marched for four years (2013-16), earning two gold and two silver medals at World Championships.  Andrew earned considerable indoor experience with RCC Indoor Percussion (2013-17), serving as Battery Section Leader in his age-out season.  

This will be Andrew's second year as a Dark Sky instructor. 

Landon Gray

A Southern California native, Landon Gray began his career with the Upland Highland Regiment ('09-'13).  Landon stepped into drum corps as the snare section leader for the Mandarins (‘13) and with the independent indoor ensemble, Orange County Independent Percussion (‘14-‘15). Other marching experience includes the Blue Knights (‘14-‘15), the Bluecoats (‘16-‘17), DCI Champions in '16 and has spent his remaining three indoor seasons with RCC Indoor Percussion (‘16-‘18), again winning a gold medal in 2018. 

Landon spent this summer as a snare instructor with the Oregon Crusaders. This will be his first season with Dark Sky, and he looks forward to participating in something fresh and exciting for the 2019 season.


Zakk Hollander



Zakk lives in Orange County, CA and has been teaching percussion since he graduated from Mission Viejo High School in 2012. His performance experience includes The Academy, Blue Knights, Blue Devils, Orange County Independent, Pulse Percussion, and RCC. As an instructor, Zakk has worked with Orange County Independent and several local high schools in Southern California. He currently teaches The Mandarins, Fountain Valley High School, Mission Viejo High School, El Dorado High School, and Diamond Bar High School.

Zakk is returning for his 2nd Dark Sky season.

Kyle Harry



Kyle currently resides in Pasadena, CA and is an educator around the San Gabriel Valley area. Kyle’s teaching experience includes Arcadia High School, San Marino High School, Crescenta Valley High School, Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps, The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps, and Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps.  Kyle is a Southern California native and began playing drums at age 11. In 2003, he was introduced to the marching arts, and soon gained proficiency on bass drum, snare, and quads. Not long after, Kyle was offered his first independent marching experience with Mystikal Drum and Bugle Corps in 2005. Until his age-out in 2009, Kyle marched seasons with Valley Independent Percussion, Pacific Crest, RCC fall, and RCC Indoor Percussion.

2019 will be Kyle’s 3rd season with Dark Sky.

Caleb Gasteiger



Caleb’s marching career began in high school under the instruction of Sarah Ball and Peter Lucero. Caleb then went on to march at Mystikal Drum and Bugle corps for the 06’ and 07’ seasons and Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps in 09’ and 10’ where he aged out. During the 06’, 07’, and 08’ fall seasons, he marched with the RCC Marching Band. The lessons he learned while marching in the Fall helped secure him a spot RCC Winter for the 08’, 09’, 10’, and 11’ seasons.
Caleb has taught various groups throughout Southern California and has students that have marched in Blue Devils, Bluecoats, Blue Knights, Bluestars, as well many other successful ensembles. Caleb has been both a visual instructor and bass tech with the Bluestars.  His dream is to give the highest quality information to his students that can propel them to reach the goals that they have set for themselves. 

This is Caleb’s 5th year on staff as a Dark Sky bass instructor and his 1st season in the role of Assistant Battery Caption Head.

John Nguyen


John Nguyen: Cymbal Instructor

John Nguyen is a cymbal instructor/clinician based in the Bay Area. He started marching cymbals at age 15, and continues his involvement in the marching arts world to this day. DCI and WGI seasons include Vanguard Cadets (2010-12), Vanguard Winter (2010-11, 2013-16), Santa Clara Vanguard (2015-16), and RCC Indoor (2017).

Teaching experiences include Saratoga HS, Los Gatos HS, Mountain View HS, Santa Teresa HS, Amador Valley HS, University of Nevada Reno. He is currently on staff with the Sacramento Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps.

This will be John's second season with Dark Sky Percussion.


Pablo Rodriguez

Pablo's performance experience includes Pulse Percussion 2009, RCC Marching Tigers 2009, The Academy Drum and Bugle Corp 2012, and RCC Indoor Percussion 2010-2014. He has worked with Rancho Cucamonga HS, Upland HS, Rowland HS, Great Oak HS, RCC Marching Tigers and RCC Indoor Percussion.

He is currently on staff at Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps, as well as Pulse Percussion. During the spring, he teaches at Kyoto Ravissant Reb'c Indoor Percussion based out Kyoto, Japan and Soka University Drumline in Hachioji, Japan. 

This is Pablo's 4th season with Dark Sky.
