2010 Show | The Red Thread

In 2010, DSP performed The Red Thread – a concept based on an ancient Chinese proverb about an invisible red thread connecting us to those we are destined to meet, regardless of time, place or circumstance, present or future. This red thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break. In keeping with the tradition of unique and intriguing show concepts, this performance explored the concept of fate and connection that binds us to friends, family, lovers, dreams, and ambitions. Who is on the other end of your Red Thread?

2009 Show | Legendary

In 2009, Dark Sky Percussion performed Legendary, an exciting story of love, art, technology, war, and politics wrapped in the theme of 5 different greek gods. Musically and visually created by the Woodard Brothers, this show was designed to push the boundaries of an exceptional group of young percussionists. Each of the 5 movements revolve around a different greek god, starting with Hermes the messenger. The music moves from a light, airy feel in the beginning into the realm of Apollo the Sun god where you can hear traces of Chariots of Fire. From there, the story turns to Aphrodite the god of Love and the ballad of the show. Love turns to war, and Ares takes front stage as the different sections turn into battle formations marching towards one another. An epic display of tragedy and destruction unfolds before the final movement of Zeus, where the story ends in that of hope and renewal.

2008 Show | Fresh Snow

Dark Sky Percussion debuted with it's first season in 2008, performing a show entitled Fresh Snow. As a tribute to the beautiful Arizona north country, and it's sometimes forgotten atypical-Arizona snowy winters, the performance begins with gentle melodies to emulate the first snow. The show develops into a light, fun atmosphere that always comes with the first snow dusting. As the show progresses though, flakes turn to flurries and then finally to an ensuing blizzard.
