FAQs
What class does Dark Sky compete in?
Percussion Independent World (PIW)
• Southern California Percussion Alliance (SCPA)
• Winter Guard Internation (WGI)
I'm from out of town, can I still audition?
We accept Video Auditions for out-of-state applicants. Please email us to request an exception at
directors@darkskypercussion.org
Solo positions such as drum set, winds, or string instruments should send a video before registering for auditions.
Come audition. Every season, participants who didn't think they were ready end up marching. You never know until you try! Participation in auditions will improve your knowledge, skill set, and preparation for future auditions.
99% of our members are 18-22 years old, but it is possible to earn a spot if you are 16-17 years of age. If contracted, High School members must provide written permission from their band director to participate and attend a parent meeting with our Executive Director.
I don’t think I’m good enough yet, should I still audition? Am I too young?
How can I prepare for the audition process?
Register for our audition and receive the audition packet. Learn the material thoroughly and come mentally and physically prepared.
If you are not ready to audition this season but want to learn the packet, go to the Audition Packet link to download it now. See you next year!
How much does it cost to march with Dark Sky?
The 2025-2026 season tuition is TBA. If contracted, a $400 deposit and paperwork are due on October 5th to secure membership. If you are serious about being a member this season, be sure to prepare for the financial requirement. Optional fundraisers will be offered to assist members with costs.
Audition Fee: $75 - Online Only (no in-person registration)
