2027 Dark Sky Audition Packet - Front Ensemble

Sharpen your technique and elevate your playing with the official 2027 Dark Sky Percussion FE Audition Packet! Developed by the Dark Sky FE Staff, this packet is an essential for attending our 2027 audition weekend.

Over the course of the weekend, we will be combing through the packet to evaluate a wide range of skills we feel are necessary for the success of the ensemble. The ability to produce your own sound while also being aware of your blend with the line is a critical skill that we look for in potential members. We will spend a majority of our time playing in a group setting so we can evaluate listening skills and overall awareness in the ensemble.

Along with playing in an ensemble setting, each individual will also perform a solo audition. Individuals will be asked to play the following items:

• Solo Excerpt (at least 1 minute long) of a solo on either marimba, vibraphone, piano, drumset or general percussion

• Exercises from the Dark Sky 2027 Rhythm Packet which include: Major Fours, Something Not Green, and Minor Mix
