Seth Woodard

Seth Woodard:  Creative Director

Seth Woodard enjoys a career that draws on his background as a performer, educator, and composer. Seth is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music (B.M. 2006) whose experience and schooling has included composition, arranging, orchestration, conducting, music editing, production, performance, teaching and self-publishing. Currently residing in Long Beach, CA, Seth is a freelance composer and arranger of music for Film/TV, having worked on projects airing on the Lifetime Network, WWE, and movie theatres worldwide. In addition to his work in modern media, Seth is the Owner and Founder of First Avenue Music - a music writing/publishing company dedicated to supplying Marching Bands and Percussion Ensembles with professional level Design, Composition, and Arrangements.

Mr. Woodard began studying percussion at a very young age with Dr. Steven Hemphill (Northern Arizona University). Around this same time, he was awarded several composition awards by the Arizona Music Educators Association and had the opportunity to play as lead percussionist in the Disney Youth Symphony Orchestra. This early exposure to music eventually led Seth to begin studying marimba under Nancy Zeltsman, which continued through his time at Berklee. He has also had the pleasure of studying under Dr. JB Smith, Fumito Nunoya, Nanae Mimura, Klaus Badelt, Andrew Raiher, Eric Reasoner, Richard Davis, and Jon Klein.

In a fusion of passions, Seth helped form Dark Sky Percussion- an indoor percussion ensemble originally from Flagstaff, AZ, now based in Los Angeles. Over the years, DSP has given hundreds of young percussionists the chance to learn from great educators and perform in front of crowds across the Western United States. Besides writing and directing Dark Sky, Mr. Woodard has been directly involved with many successful groups over the years, including: Gilbert HS, Page HS, Torrance HS, Elite Percussion, Fishers HS, Gold Drum and Bugle Corps, San Marino HS, and many more.

Mr. Woodard proudly uses and endorses Innovative Percussion, Pearl-Adams, Roland, and Zildjian.

Jared Andrews

Jared Andrews:  Battery Arranger

Jared is the Battery Caption Head for the WGI Independent World Class Champion RCC Indoor Percussion.Since Joining on with this highly decorated ensemble the group has incredible success not placing lower than fourth and achieving the Gold Medal once and the Silver Medal three times at the WGI World Championships. Jared also serves as the Caption Head for the Riverside Community College Marching Tigers which have a list of accomplished appearances that include the Bands of America Grand National Championships, the Pasadena Rose Parade, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and film and TV credits such as Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, the Truman Show, American Pie 2, American Pie: Band Camp, Monk, Boston Public, Charmed and the Gilmore Girls.

Jared has also recently been hired by the prestigious eleven time DCI World Champion Concord Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. His expertise with the world acclaimed RCC Indoor Percussion led him to serve as the newest member of the battery technical staff. Since the 2007 season there has been one or more of Jared’s students to be accepted into the tenor line and all of them have risen to leadership in the prestigious ensemble.

As an accomplished arranger and composer in the marching band and winter drum line activity, Jared has been writing for six years now for the five time SCPA scholastic open class finalist Great Oak high school. Jared has also written for other known bands like Vista Murrieta, La Quinta, John North, Ramona and Chaparral high schools and the Riverside Community College Drum line. Jared also serves as a percussion clinician and arranger for the internationally know Kamehameha High School in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Jared is a graduate of the University of California at Riverside where he received his Bachelors of Arts in Music. He is also a Level 1 graduate of the KCP International Language School in Shinjuku, Japan. And as an avid CrossFitter he is CrossFit Level 1 Certified and CrossFit Movement and Mobility Certified.

Jaime Holly

Jaime Holly:  Visual Design

Jaime Holly is a full time drill designer and visual instructor living in Long Beach, CA with his wife Rebekah and daughter Parker. He began his marching career in the soprano line of the Concord Blue Devil B Corps in 1989, moving to the World Champion A Corps in 1991 through 1993. He returned to the Blue Team in 1997 where he is currently a visual instructor and drill writer.

His affinity for mathematical problems can be traced through his BS from Fresno State in Math. Jaime earned a teaching credential from Cal State Hayward and was a math teacher at James Logan High School before he decided to give it up for the fame and fortune of drill writing. 

Jaime is the visual caption head and designer for several award winning high schools in BOA and WBA, as well as independent non-profit organizations in DCI and WGI. He has also served on the DCI Task Force. Currently, he has the pleasure of working with the Soka Renaissance Vanguard from Tokyo, Japan. 

Some of the groups he has had the opportunity to work with are: RCC Indoor, Blue Devils, Orange County Independent, Academy Drum and Bugle Corps, Blue Coats Drum and Bugle Corps, Mystikal Drum and Bugle Corps, Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps, Upland High School, Fountain Valley High School, Legacy High School, Haltom High School, Colleyville Heritage High School, Desert Vista High School, Winston Churchill High School, Clovis West High School, James Logan High School, Freelancers Indoor Drumline, Black Knights Indoor Drumline, and the El Diamonte Indoor Colorguard.

This will be Jaime's 2nd Season with DSP.

Peter Beckhart

Peter Beckhart:  Visual Design

Peter Beckhart has performed, instructed, and designed many competitive shows in the marching arts. His performing experience includes six years of DCI, aging out with the Concord Blue Devils. Peter also performed with the Riverside Community College winter drum line in 2011 and 2012.As a full-time drill designer for fall marching bands and spring productions, Peter has had the opportunity to work with many groups since 2009. He currently teaches at Upland High School and is the visual caption head of Ayala High School and Savanna High School. Peter is also a sought after choreographer for fall marching bands and winter drumlines including Ayala H.S., James Logan H.S., Mt. Carmel H.S., RCC winter percussion, and many other programs in southern California. In the drum corps world, Peter taught the Blue Devils 'B' in 2012 and has been on visual staff of the 17-time World Champion Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps since 2013. Peter is humbled to have opportunities to work with some of the best programs and students in the world and is always striving to be a better performer, instructor, choreographer and designer. He lives in Long Beach, CA.

Ike Jackson

Ike Jackson:  Show Design

Ike Jackson has been working with Ayala High School since 1991. In his twenty-four years as a percussion instructor, he has worked with more than 50 different percussion programs at the high school, college, and drum corps levels. A prolific percussion arranger, judge and drill designer, Ike has worked with various percussion ensembles all across the US.   

His competitive marching career started as a teenager as a member of the Sound Machine Youth Organization. He then performed as tenor player for the Riverside Community College Marching Tigers from 1992 to 1994. Finally, he finished his marching career as a member of the 1994 Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps, going on to win the title of World Champion. 

Ike is currently Vice President of the Southern California Percussion Alliance and a founding member of SCPA. He is also a member of the Winter Guard International Percussion Advisory Board and has worked on the Steering Committee as well. In 2006, Ike created Pulse Independent World Percussion Ensemble and POW Percussion in 2010, and is currently working with Strike Independent World Percussion. 

Ike is a Mapex and Majestic Featured Artist; as well as, endorsed by Innovative Percussion sticks and mallets, Zildjian cymbals, and Remo Drumheads. Ike has recently worked on research and development projects with many major drum and cymbal companies to make many of the products used by todays percussionists 

Ike has helped his percussion ensembles win 12 WGI World Championship medals, 22 WGI World Championship Finalist placements, 47 Regional Finalist placements, 14 Regional Championship titles, and a Bands of America Grand National Finalist appearance in 2004 and 2014. He was the Corps Director of the 2006 division III World Champion Impulse Drum and Bugle Corps and currently the Percussion Caption head at The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps for the last four years. Locally, his ensembles have won 10 SCPA Championship medals and over 60 first place awards.

Ike currently lives in Ontario, California with his wife and four children.
